DIY Chandelier

Hope you are having a great week! After having this Urban Outfitters chandelier in our dining room for the last 2 years I wanted to liven it up a bit.  I am currently obsessed with anything yellow so I decide to spray paint it Sun Yellow. Here is how it turned out...xoxo
Supplies: Chandelier, spray paint and drop cloth.
I took apart the chandelier and spray 2 coats.
I put the chandelier back together and sprayed it one more time.
Before and After.
The final product hanging in our dining room.

Terrain at Westport

Good morning! Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend. Sorry I am getting this post out so late today, it was a fun weekend here and time got away from me.

Today I am posting about the new Terrain at Westport. The original Terrain at Styers is just outside of Philly and is a must see if you are in the area...yes, it is at the same level as seeing the Liberty Bell if you ask me. I always try to incorporate it into a weekend when we have guests.

Terrain is a beautiful garden store by the same people that started Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People. So if you know anything about those stores you know Terrain will most likely be incredible. Besides the great garden selection and other fun buys you can eat in their garden cafe where they serve 'local/organic meals'. If you haven't been to one of the two Terrains it is definitely something you need to check out if you are ever in Philadelphia or Westport, Connecticut. Here are a few picture of the Westport Terrain for you...xoxo.
My favorite chairs of the moment...love the bold stripe.
Beautiful garden displays.
Fun yellow finds.
Terrarium station.
And the garden cafe.

Favorite Four

The long weekend is finally here! Looking forward to a mini trip to NYC and lots of down time at home.

This week's favorite four (clockwise from top left) 1-Peonies are hands down my favorite flower but sadly they have such a short life...this time of year I enjoy them as much as I can. They are so beautiful! 2-This past weekend we had friends come for a staycation in the city and we attempted to take them to as many of our favorite places in our neck of the woods while they were here. This picture is of a wall in one of our favorite cafes where we got brunch. 3-As previously stated Martha Stewart Weddings is one of my favorite magazines and since it is only published 4x a year I get super excited when it comes in the mail. So naturally I drop everything and curl up on the couch to read it...this picture was basically my Monday night. 4-Yesterday I got to celebrate Julia's 3rd birthday she is one of the little girls I nanny...this was her delicious cake. Crazy to think we have spent almost everyday of her short life together...love her!

Have a great holiday weekend! xoxo

Clothing Swap

"A clothing swap is a type of swapmeet wherein participants exchange their valued but no longer used clothing for clothing they will use. Clothing swaps are considered not only a good way to declutter and refill one's wardrobe, but also are considered an act of environmentalism." -Wikipedia

On Friday my girlfriend and I hosted one of these at her home. It was a huge success! Everyone who came went away with many great pieces. It was a fun night with the girls...I totally recommend it.

Here is what you do: 1-Send out invites telling the ladies to bring a bag of clothes they want to 'swap' and a bottle of wine. 2-Have food and tables to set the clothes out on. 3-When the ladies arrive tell them where to lay out their clothes and then come back to mingle, eat and drink. 4-Once everyone has their clothes on the tables say go and everyone can run in to look and take the clothes. Ours wasn't quite as aggresive as I was hoping but it was still a good time. 5-Once everyone finds what they want it is fun to  show off what you ended up with.

Thanks to all the ladies who came! xoxo
Chatting, eating and drinking before 'swapping'.

Check out those labels...Marc Jacobs and Juicy!

Boston Attire

Since we walked everywhere while we were in Boston I needed to base my outfits around my shoes. These gold flats are my most comfortable so this is what I wore with them....xoxo!

p.s. Thanks for taking the pictures mom! And the photos were taken in the beautiful Boston Commons.

Boston:Day 2

Our second and final day in Boston happened to be Mother's Day (for our first day in Boston click here). I had done a little research looking for the perfect brunch spot to take my mom and it was South End Buttery that I ended up finding thanks to Rue Magazine! So after an early walk on Boston's greenway i.e. "emeral necklace" my mom and I headed over to the South End. It was the perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon. It is filled with gorgeous homes, cute shops, restaurants and the incredible SoWa Open Market. Here are a few photos from our Mother's Day in Boston's South End...xoxo.

Beautiful homes in the neighborhood.
Food trucks, crafts, music, art and even a fashion truck at the SoWa Open Market.
So many great little shops...here is Hudson...
...and Gracie Finn. We also loved M. Flynn and their beautiful jewelry creations.
And South End Buttery where we had a delicious Mother's Day brunch.

Boston: Day 1

It was a fun weekend here in Philadelphia...hope it was a great one for you as well. I hosted a clothing swap with one of my girlfriends and it was a huge hit. I will be sure to post about that soon in case you would like to host one yourself.

On another note...last weekend after Brimfield my mom and I headed to Boston for the weekend. It was a great trip exploring the city. It is such a walkable city we walked everywhere. Here are a few pictures from our first day shopping the fabulous Newbury Street and walking the Freedom Trail. Have a great Monday! xoxo

Christopher Columbus Park right outside of our hotel!
Shopping and getting food at Quincy Market on Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
The beautiful public gardens and historic swan boats.
Fun finds walking around the city.
Shopping and getting brunch on Newbury Street in the gorgeous Back Bay neighborhood.
Walking the Freedom Trail...it is a large red/brick line connecting all of the historic sites.
We bought cupcakes at Sweet earlier in the day and ate them on the deck at our hotel overlooking the Boston Harbor filled with beautiful sail boats.

Favorite Four

It's finally the weekend...and it is going to be a fun one! Tonight my girlfriend and I are hosting a clothing swap for a bunch of our friends, will be posting about that next week. And Saturday is a huge arts festival that is every year right on our street! It is one of the best parts of living in our building/neighborhood.

My favorite four from this week: (clockwise from top left) 1-While driving home from Boston on Sunday I drove through Manhattan instead of taking the turnpike around the island. New York City is one of my favorite places and since I was by myself I knew I needed to take up the opportunity. Not many people will drive through the 'big city' for the heck of it...I loved every second of it. 2-Not only getting to spend Mother's Day with my mom ... but the entire long weekend. What a treat! 3-The hot dog/beer garden is now open in our neighborhood. It is one of the best places to go on a warm night and get a loaded hot dog, drink and watch a baseball game or chat with friends. 4-I love painting (if you haven't noticed) so this week I finger painted with the little girls I nanny...too much fun!

See you Monday...xoxo.

Brimfield: What I Bought

After 4 days of posting about Brimfield I promise this is my last post. It was just such a great trip and I had so much to share with you! So after much asking here is what I bought. xoxo
A lumber jack jacket for me...it fits perfectly and I got it for only $10!
(clockwise from top left) colorful sculptures $5 for both, $2 tea-cup, really fun scarves for $3 each,  yellow cuff $1, 2 beautiful bracelets $5 each (originally $30...I had to talk it down a little:),
table cloth $8.
And an extra large bike sign for Ben's office...it looks awesome hanging in his space if I do say so myself. I had to talk the price down to $35.

Brimfield Attire

It was rainy the days before we got to Brimfield so I thought it would be a good idea to bring my rain boots. It ended up being a great idea since it was incredibly muddy...thankfully it didn't actually rain while we were there. Also layering was important on this sunny, cloudy, windy trip. This is what I ended up wearing...xoxo.

p.s. notice how little my back pack is to begin with. Back packs are a must...you definitely don't want to be carrying anything while you are treasure hunting.

Brimfield: Day 2

Day 2 was filled with so many fun finds but I bought far less then I did on Day 1...here are a bunch of great things we found but didn't end up buying.
Maybe our coolest find...sadly it was over $100 and I wasn't willing to pay that.
So much color! Still bummed I didn't buy that yellow chair...and look at those suitcases!
This book was awesome!
I was jonesing for that clock.

Brimfield: Day 1

Happy Monday! Last night I got home from a very memorable long weekend with my mom exploring Brimfield and Boston Massachusetts.  The only problem with me and these types of trips is that I take way to many pictures and I have a hard time trying to narrow down which ones to share with you without overwhelming anyone. So I have broken Brimfield up into 2 parts and the same with my Boston portion of the trip...unfortunately I will be posting about Boston next week. There just aren't enough days in the week for all the posts I want to share with you...#bloggerproblems.

So today I am posting about Brimfield. Oh Brimfield! If you aren't familiar with this it is a large antique/flea market that is held 3x a year in Brimfield, MA. It is where many people go to treasure hunt...at least that is what I call it. I have been wanting to go to Brimfield ever since I discovered it 5 years ago...it just sounded like too much fun. So here are a few pics from day 1 of our 2 days in Brimfield. Enjoy! xoxo

We made it!
Some of the vendors had beautiful displays...you definitely didn't feel like you were at a flea market.
Loved pretty much anything in yellow.
Bright letters, bikes and signs.
Fun finds.
Lots of vintage tea towels, tablecloths and dishes.
Old stamps were everywhere!
A little fishing tackle.
And where we ended our evening...the beautiful Lord Manor B & B
Great accommodations and hosts!
