Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

We had a fun weekend camping with friends in central Pennsylvania...and now we are preparing for Frankenstorm (aka hurricane Sandy) which is supposed to hit Philadelphia today! I prepared by making chocolate chip cookies, buying milk, and making lots of ice for the cooler in case the power goes out.

Here is my new favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, thanks to my sister in law. xoxo

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies (from All Recipes)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
All the ingredients.

Cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar until smooth.

Beat in the eggs and stir in vanilla.

Add baking soda to hot water until dissolved then add to batter along with salt.

Stir in flour and chocolate chips...I used 3 cups of chocolate chips:)

Drop large spoonfuls onto ungreased pan.

Bake for 10 minutes at 350 deg. I had to bake mine for 12 minutes for the edges to get brown.

Ready to eat!

Favorite Four

Happy Friday! It was a fun week for me with two days off. I'm liking this relaxed work schedule before our baby comes :) My favorite four this week (clockwise from top left) 1- Since Ben and I both had Wednesday off we headed up to Lambertville, of our favorite small towns in the area. We did some flea marketing, got lunch and went shopping in this quaint town on a gorgeous fall day. 2-On Saturday we had brunch with friends at a new spot in the city and I got this delicious crepe...I want to go back! 3-I received the invite for my first baby shower...for exciting! 4-Last night I was really craving friend pickles from our local tap room so Ben was my hero and got them take-out for me. We had a mini picnic at the park while Berlin (our dog) ran around everyone was happy.

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Here is the recipe I use for one of our favorite treats...popovers.

-3 Eggs
-1 cup Milk
-3 tablespoons Melted Butter
-1/2 Teaspoon Salt
-1 cup Flour

Pre-heat oven to 400 deg. Combine beaten eggs, milk and melted butter. Slowly add flour and salt...whip just until smooth. Fill each popover cup 3/4 full and bake approximately 40 minutes. You can serve plain, with butter, jam or anything else you can think of.

The secret to a perfectly popped popover is to place the pan in the oven while it is heating up. I learned this trick from my grandma. Enjoy xoxo!
Everything you need.

Combine eggs and milk.

Add melted butter, flour, salt and whisk together.

Spray warmed up popover pan and add batter.

Ready to eat!
