Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Prince William and Kate! I have been a huge fan of the royal family ever since I can remember so missing the royal wedding was never an option. My close girlfriend (equally obsessed) and I had a royal wedding all nighter to celebrate the event last spring, we wouldn't have missed it for anything. Here is a picture of our early morning snack, The Royal Wedding donut from Dunkin Donuts. Happy Anniversary! xoxo

Favorite Four

This morning Ben and I are heading out for a long weekend of 'glamping' (i.e. glamorous camping) with friends to Charlottesville, Virginia. I say glamping because we stay in a fancy yurt...pics to come next week. We took the same trip last fall and it was so beautiful that we couldn't help ourselves to not go back. With the vineyards, downtown Charlottesville, the activities at the resort and it being only a 4 hour drive it makes the perfect getaway.

My favorite four this week (clockwise from the top left) 1-One of our daily routines is going to the dog park with Berlin...the best is when the sailing classes are out on the river. Besides it just being beautiful to watch I used to be a sailing instructor and it brings back those fun memories. 2-I don't usually buy from the J.Crew catalogue but I still love looking at it. Their latest one made me smile...I liked the bright color and quote on the cover. 3-One of our favorite features of our loft is the courtyard we share with our neighbors. On warm nights Ben and I love taking dinner out there...Sunday was one of those times. 4-Being at the farm market was a day with the girls...these were my favorite find...I now have them planted, in pots, all over my house. Have a great weekend...xoxo!

DIY Desk

While thrift store shopping last spring I came across this long sofa table. It had definitely seen better days but it was sturdy and had some impressive detail. I knew if I just gave it a little love and a fresh coat of paint it would be as good as new. So my friend helped me carry the table the 2 blocks to my house...I am sure we looked pretty funny going down the busy street carrying furniture...but fun memory:) I then headed to the hardware store to check out the paint swatches. I knew I wanted something that wasn't traditional, like the piece, and I found this perfect 'Cosmic Berry' purple color. I came home, did a little sanding, painted 2 coats and by dinner time I had a new desk! xoxo
Finding the treasure in the thrift store.
Picking out the perfect color.
Painting at home...not to worry...I had all 12 windows in our loft open:)
My desk set up and ready to use.
Love all the intricate detail.

Blue Suede Shoes

It was a very windy day on the Race Street Pier when we took these photos. Not great for the hair but excellent to show off the beautiful colors in my scarf. Happy hump day! xoxo

'IN' Creative

The past few months 3 other designers and I have been working on 'In', an all in-clusive design blog, and this weekend was the official launch! Megan, who is the brains behind this endeavour, did an amazing job figuring out the logistics and setting it all up. I write the bi-monthly In-Products posts. You can check out the posts and bios of the team here...enjoy!

Farm Market

Happy Monday! It was a restful weekend here, thanks to a rainy Sunday...love that! On Saturday two of my girlfriends and I headed out to the middle of no where in New Jersey to the amazing Platt's Farm Market. It was a pink house with many bright flowers which looked like that was about it from the street but once you drove in you could see it was much much more then that. With 35+ greenhouses filled with beautiful flowers, fields of shrubbery and anything you could want in the way of lawn ornaments...wow...it was a tremendous experience to say the least. Living in a loft with no personal outdoor space I was limited to my buying but had an incredible time taking pictures of way to many plants while my friends stocked up. For your sake here are only a few of the pictures from the morning...xoxo.
The pink house and some of the greenhouses.
So many flowers to choose from!
This was dubbed the 'Misc Magenta' plant.

Hanging plants anyone?

Favorite Four

Happy Friday! What a week...beautiful weather here in Philly making it almost impossible to spend any free time inside. I am pretty sure I even got a bit of color...yeah! This weekend will involve lots of down time and heading to a local nursery with a few friends. I'm not a gardener by any means but my girlfriends are and I am always up for learning something new and spending time with the girls!

My favorite four for this week (clockwise from top left) 1-Having these beautiful tropical flowers in the house always brighten my day. 2-I found this fun door in Lambertville, New Jersey on Saturday. Exploring a new place or even one I know so well is one of my favorite ways to spend a free day. 3-I LOVED being able to spend Sunday afternoon just sitting/chatting/reading on the picnic blanket with my boys...it was so restful and simply too gorgeous to be inside. 4-I couldn't resist stopping by LOFT on my way home from work last night. It was 40% off everything in the store this week. I bought this fun colored tank and clutch. If you haven't noticed by now I am a sucker for a clutch! Have a great weekend...xoxo!

Nail Care

As previously stated I am someone who paints my nails a lot...meaning at least once a week if not more. I have been noticing my actual nails are chipping more then they used to and thought all the painting/removing may have something to do with it. I found this article in Lucky Magazine the other day that explains this and thought I should start paying more attention to my poor nails. So these are the steps I am taking for the health of my nails...hoping it works!

The useful article from Lucky.

My new purchases...organic/non acetone polish remover and Burt's Bees cuticle cream. You can see I got a bonus pomegranate lip balm with my purchase...score!

All the things I need for my weekly polish...remover and cotton balls, nail file and buffer, polish and cuticle cream.

My first attempt at the new polish remover. Since it is gentler on your nails it also takes much longer to get the polish off and about 4x the cotton balls. It also smells just as bad as the acetone versions just a different more chalky bad smell. But hey it's for the sake of the nails right!?!

After the removing, filing, buffing and painting the article said it is good to put the Burt's Bees cuticle cream on your cuticles (the part where your nail and skin meet) every night. Hope this mini tutorial helps...xoxo.

Little Chairs

I have been looking for an art piece for the large open space above our closet and always thought I would find a big old sign of some sort. While I was at the flea market on Saturday I was looking for 'the' sign when I came across these bright little chairs. Thinking I surely couldn't buy them since we don't have kids I passed by them. Then it dawned on me that they would be perfect for the space above our closet. So I bought them! Sunday Ben and I hung them and I love how it turned out and the color it adds to the wall. Here is what we did...

What we used; the chairs, a level, a drill and giant bike hooks.

Measuring where I wanted Ben to drill the holes for the hooks. And Berlin, my trusty sidekick.

The hooks in the wall and Ben hanging up the chairs.

Before and after.

The finished 'art'.

Flea Marketing

Hoping you had a great weekend! I spent a lot of mine outside in the gorgeous Philadelphia weather, having friends over for dinner & games, and flea marketing. My girlfriend and I headed out to the Golden Nugget flea market early Saturday morning. It is about 45 minutes away from Philadelphia in the beautiful small town of Lambertville, NJ right on the Delaware River. We found so many great things it was hard to not buy them all...but we only had her Mini Cooper to fit everything in so we had to stop ourselves. After a full morning of treasure hunting we headed into town for lunch. It is one of the cutest small towns I have ever been to with great shops, restaurants and a good coffee shop. All in all a perfect Saturday. Here are a few pics from the flea marketing....xoxo.

Just a glimpse of some of the market...it is huge!

Some fun finds!

I couldn't get enough of these hilarious old postcards!

I ended up with this beautiful green kitchen scale that is actually accurate...

...and these colorful little chairs which I will be posting about tomorrow:)

Runner and Napkins

While shopping at Terrain a few weeks ago I saw these cute napkins that I thought I could recreate. I had a few friends with April birthdays so I whipped them up for their gift. Here are the steps I took...

The supplies: Fabric, a runner to trace, pins, scissors, fabric paint, painting sponge, stencils and sewing machine (not pictured). Also have a quote or something you would like to stencil on the runner/napkins.

I used an Ikea runner I had to trace the size runner I wanted to make. I pinned it to my fabric and just cut around it...so easy!

After cutting my runner and napkins I folded over the edges and ironed them so it would be quicker and easier to sew.

Setting up my stencils. I used a small sponge to fill the stencils in with fabric paint.

After I was done with the painting I let them dry for a few hours and then folded them up and ironed the edges for a clean look.

The finished product/gift.

Ready to be gifted.

Black and Khaki

On Easter I just couldn't bring myself to wear a dress. It was a little chilly and I feel so white from not being in the sun yet. So I settled on cropped khakis and a sweater. I thought I would brighten things up with a scarf and jewelry. Maybe next year I will try out an Easter dress again...xoxo.
